Spain became the world champion for the second time by defeating Argentina in the final

Messi's magic did not work, Spain became the world champion for the second time by defeating Argentina in the final

New York: Spain defeated defending champion Argentina 0-1 in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026 to win the World Cup for the second time.

At the beginning of the first half of the decisive match played in New York, the Spanish team dominated, making several attacks on the defending champion team's goal but could not take the lead.

Spain's defense was so strong in this half that Argentina did not get a single chance to shoot at the opponent's goal. The match was tied without a goal at the break.

The same situation continued in the second half. The referee showed Argentina's Fernandes a red card and sent him off the field for fouling a Spanish player before the end of the scheduled time of the game, after which the Argentine team had to play with 10 men for the rest of the time.

The Argentine team could not even get a shot on Spain's goal in this half. The regular time of the game ended without a goal.

The match remained goalless in the first half of extra time, then came the second and decisive half of extra time, in which Spanish player Feren Torres got a chance to score at the beginning, which he did not waste.

After going into a deficit, the Argentine players tried hard to score, but they could not succeed.

Thus, the defending champion team could not retain the title as a result of a 1-0 defeat and the Spanish team became the champion for the second time after 16 years.

US President Donald Trump gave the trophy to the world football champion Spain and awards to the players.
